Desert as Muse: Library of Esoterica

  • Pioneertown Motel 5240 Curtis Road Pioneertown, CA, 92268 United States (map)

Hosted by Jessica Hundley
Presented by The Library of Esoterica and Palma Colectiva

Join us for a Sunday morning gathering exploring the desert as a timeless source of creative inspiration. Across cultures and centuries, deserts have drawn artists, seekers, and visionaries. These landscapes invite a different way of seeing, listening, and creating.

Hosted by Jessica Hundley, author and series editor of TASCHEN’s multivolume Library of Esoterica book series, we’ll begin with a brief discussion on how deserts around the world have shaped artistic imagination and spiritual inquiry, from ancient myth and pilgrimage to modern art, music, and countercultural movements.

Following the talk, we will transition into a sonic journey and guided meditation inspired by the rhythms and atmospheres of desert environments. Through immersive sound and gentle guidance, participants will be invited to slow down, tune inward, and connect. This experience offers a moment to enter the spacious, reflective terrain of the desert, where imagination, intuition, and creativity converge.

This experience will be part of TASCHEN X The Library of Esoterica's creative offerings, curated in collaboration with The High Desert Art Fair. In addition to our LOE gallery and library space at Pioneertown Hotel, we'lll also be co-creating an immersive ART ALTAR activation. Encouraging visitors to participate collaboratively, we'll create an evolving altar installation space, inviting participants to make offerings throughout the weekend.
